On August 4th and 5th, 2022, Sias IS held an official training session titled "From Start-up to Sustainability".

 

On the afternoon of August 3, 2022, Sias International School of Zhengdong New District, Zhengzhou (Sias IS) invited Dr. Shawn Chen, Board of director of Sias, and Mr. Wayne Wang, general manager of Sias Group (China), to give pre-training speeches in our school.

Primary Sports Day

June 10, 2022

The rain Thursday  (June 9th, 2022) night brought in cooler temperatures for our Primary School Sports Day on Friday (June 10th, 2022) . That didn’t stop our students in G1 to G6 from working up a good sweat in their athletic activities. Coach Catarina and Coach Jonathan did an excellent job creating team-building activities into the Sports Day. Our students did an excellent job cooperating and encouraging each other.

Grade 5 Graduation

June 9, 2022

Thursday afternoon (June 9th, 2022) we held our Grade 5 graduation for our four students. They read speeches summarizing their learning and demonstrating gratitude to the teachers and staff who helped them this year. Ms. Madhu, Ms. Rosa, and Mr. Tyrone facilitated a special ceremony including a surprise video with baby pictures of each student.

Kindergarten Graduation

On June 9th we held our first ever Kindergarten Graduation. Our students were so excited to be recognized and demonstrated great leadership by listening and helping each other. We are especially impressed by Ms. Shakenya, Mr. Alan, and Ms. Chloe for their organizational skills and vision to make the graduation a success. 

Early Years Sports Day

June 3, 2022

On June 3rd, 2022, the Early Years students participated in their first Sports Day. Coach Catarina and Coach Jonathan set up eight stations on the soccer field for students to test their physical fitness and demonstrate their learning for the year. Great leadership by our teachers and an amazing job by our students!

MAP Parent Tea

June 1, 2022

On Thursday (June 1st, 2022) we held our third MAP Training for parents. Parents who attended all three MAP sessions will receive their children’s MAP scores at the end of this school year. Parents who did not attend will receive their students' scores at the end of the 2022-23 school year. The decision to withhold MAP scores is tied to the recommendation from the owners of the MAP assessments. It is best practice to allow for three years of results before sharing.

MYP Parent Tea

May 31, 2022

On May 31st, we met with the parents of our rising Grade 6 and 7 students. Our goal was to inform parents of the transition from the PYP to the MYP. We highlighted the new teachers, the interdisciplinary approach to learning, our service learning including the Week Without Walls, and the Bring Your Own MacBook requirement. It was a great first step to adding our MYP and preparing our students and families for the new school year.

End of Year Performance

The Songs of the Seasons was an excellent way for students to demonstrate their year of learning in Performing Arts. Excellent job by Ms. Callan organizing our first ever school-wide performance. 

Student-Led Conference

April 29, 2022

On April 29th, Student-Led Conference (SLC) of this semester was held at Sias IS. Students from each class led their parents to see their recent learning and unit of inquiry, and showed their learning models and art works.

First MAP Explanation Meeting 

March 10, 2022

On the afternoon of March 10th,  the first MAP parents’ Explanation Meeting was hosted at Sias IS. In order to introduce what MAP test is, how MAP test takes place, and the significance of the result data, our school decided to host three meetings of parents’ explanation regarding the MAP test.

Making PYP Happen at Sias IS

On the afternoon of October 28th, the second Parent Tea of this semester was successfully held in the Multipurpose Room of Sias IS. With the application for IB certification in our school, we hope that more parents will have a deeper understanding of the IB program. Therefore, Ms. Mahdu, Curriculum Coordinator, and Ms. Juliana, PreK teacher, led parents in a workshop to experience the IB program.

Literacy Week comes to a Successful end at Sias IS

At Sias IS, we see deep reading as a very important learning tool. The instructional team of Sias IS organized a three-day Literacy Week, to experience different forms of reading, so that children can truly feel the fun of reading and develop good reading habits.

First Open House Review

On Saturday, November 23rd, Sias International School (Sias IS) hosted out first Open House at our temporary campus. The purpose of this event was to provide parents valuable information regarding our school while giving children an opportunity to explore hands on learning activities in the classroom.
